Tips for Diabetes Patients

Being diabetic is not easy. When I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, I became very careful with what I put in my mouth. I can't eat lots of carbs such as rice, pasta, bread, sweets, and potatoes. I became very afraid of getting wound especially on my feet. I don't want my feet to be amputated. Part of caring of my feet includes following these tips:

Ogedengbe's tips for finding proper footwear.
  • Avoid shoes with pointed toes.
  • Don't buy shoes with too flat a sole or high heels because they don’t allow for even distribution of foot pressure.
  • Look for styles that have soft insoles.
  • Choose leather, canvas, or suede styles to allow adequate circulation of air. Don't buy plastic or other materials that don't allow the shoe to ''breathe."
  • Look for such features as laces, buckles, or Velcro. These make it easier to adjust the shoe.

When my husband ran out of his multivitamins, he started taking my multivitamins without me knowing. No wonder why it is almost gone. I was wondering why till I caught him in the act, lol! I told him that is is a woman's vitamins and that he shouldn't be taking it in the first place. His reply was, "it's okay, Honey...it is the same as multivitamin for men." No! It's not...I said. Next time you buy yourself a multivitamins, you need to get me some of mine, too! He said, " i will, Honey...don't worry." This is one thing that makes me nuts. He thinks that we can share vitamins, too! I am not being selfish, just want to let him know that yes, there are certain vitamins that can be taken by both men and women....but the one I am taking right now is made for women only.

I Need to Give it a Try

Just like some people I know, I myself has been struggling to lose weight. I have been trying be healthy for the sake of my son, but it is just hard for me to do it. I do some exercise, and dieting but I ended on eating more than I should. The steroid I am taking is boosting my appetite regardless of how the dosage I take. I just couldn't help, but eat even though I am not actually hungry. I can't take any diet pills because I don't because of the immunosuppressants I take for my new kidneys. Then one day, while reading an article from webmd, I happened to read this article about sensa and it is called "sensa weight loss reviews." It got me interested, and so I decided to give this weight loss product. I went to their website and order a free trial (for 7 days). Okay, I received the product on the ail, but haven't tried it yet. I need to hear what my doctor will say, then take it as soon as he gives me a "go" signal. I just hope that sensa will give me the results I want.

How to Prevent Stroke?

Posted by Cecile at 4/26/2011 10:42:00 PM 0 comments
My mother had a stroke three years ago. We were so worried for her. How could she? She is very healthy and eats mostly veggies and fruits. She and my father eat very little meat and are very active people! Thank God the stroke was mild and she went home with medications to prevent it from happening again. We have found out that because of her high blood pressure, she had a mild stroke! That mild stroke had given her a type 2 diabetes...now it is under control. She still takes blood pressure medicines though. Anyway, with my Mom's experienced...I learned very important lessons...that I try to follow since that incident.

In December of 2010 there are some guidelines that were released online. Ten effective strategies to prevent stroke.

Medical Changes:
~ Lower your blood pressure
~ Improve cholesterol levels
~ Rein in diabetes
~ Have your pulse checked
~ Neck surgery: Think twice

Lifestyles Changes:
~ Follow a brain-healthy diet
~ Trim your waist
~ Make a move
~ Drink moderately, if at all
~ Quit smoking

An Outdoor Fire Pit

On our old house where we used to live, we have a pretty good size backyard. It's got a covered patio and a small gazebo, too! We love it for we were able to grow gardens for flowers and vegetables as well. We really enjoyed that first house of our especially the backyard. We even have an outdoor fire pit for cold winter nights. Now, we have a fireplace at home, we were thinking of getting a new outdoor fire pit we can enjoy even on cool nights of spring while watching the stars up in the sky. Oh, how we love living on a countryside! We didn't get to see so much stars when we were living in the city. Now, it was like a dream come true to us. I think it is time to get an outdoor fire pit for our new house! What do you think, guys?
